Key Responsibilities
• Lead API integration initiatives with external partners, brokers, TPAs (Third Party Administrators), and distribution ecosystems for general insurance products.
• Collaborate with internal business and technology teams to understand insurance workflows (policy issuance, claims, endorsements, renewals, payments).
• Design, develop, and manage REST APIs to support partner onboarding and real-time integrations.
• Define integration standards, governance, and best practices, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability.
• Work closely with enterprise architects and DevOps engineers to deploy APIs securely in cloud environments (preferably GCP)
• Implement API monitoring, logging, and error-handling frameworks to ensure partner integrations are robust and fault-tolerant.
• Ensure compliance with IRDAI data security, privacy, and audit requirements.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor integration engineers, and contribute to API lifecycle management.
• Act as the primary technical liaison between the insurance company and external technology partners.
Required Skills & Experience
• 6 to 8 years of experience in API integration, system-to-system connectivity, or middleware frameworks.
• Strong background working in the insurance sector (general insurance preferred) with partner ecosystem integrations.
• Hands-on expertise in RESTful API / SOAP Web Services design and integration.
• Proficiency in API Gateways / Management Platforms like Apigee (preferred) , Kong, Mulesoft, WSO2, or similar
• Solid understanding of authentication & authorization protocols (OAuth2.0, JWT, SAML).
• Familiarity with insurance distribution systems, partner onboarding processes, and digital distribution channels.
• Experience with PostgreSQL / relational databases and messaging systems like pub/sub or Kafka
• Exposure to CI/CD automation and API lifecycle management with tools like Jenkins, Sonarqube is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of cloud-native architectures and deployment models (Google Cloud Platform preferred).
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior experience working with general insurance companies on partner integration projects.
• Knowledge of insurance core systems (policy admin, claims, underwriting).
• Certifications in API Management, Cloud Architecture, or Integration platforms.
• Experience in microservices architecture and event-driven systems.
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Soft Skills
